James Comey Under Investigation for Instagram Post Allegedly Threatening Trump
Former FBI Director James Comey faces a Secret Service probe after sharing an Instagram photo that some interpret as a veiled threat against President Donald Trump.

Former FBI Director James Comey is facing a Secret Service investigation after posting an image on Instagram that some interpreted as a veiled threat against President Donald Trump. The photo, shared on May 15, depicted seashells arranged to form the numbers "8647," accompanied by the caption, "Cool shell formation on my beach walk."

Comey deleted the post shortly after, stating he was unaware of the potential violent connotation. "I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence," he said. "It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind so I took the post down."

The incident has reignited tensions between Comey and Trump, stemming from Comey's dismissal in 2017 during the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The Secret Service has confirmed it is "aware of the incident" and will "vigorously investigate" any potential threat.
